Wrinkles, Pimples and More - 8 Blemish-Free Skin Care Ads

Advertisers have your skin blemishes and stresses covered. The following 8 advertisers have found solutions to all of your skin worries!

Problem 1: Wrinkly Skin

This poster ad that starts at the top all crinkly and wrinkled to finish up with a nice smooth piece of paper is for Frizz, a salon. The ad is set up to represent the transformation from unhealthy to healthy skin. The copy reads, "skin that feels like this to skin that feels like this."

Problem 2: Cellulite

This outdoor ad from Nivea uses bubble wrap instead of regular poster material to get the "Reduce the Bumps" message across.

Problem 3: Acne

Clearasil knows how skeptical today's teens are when it comes to acne scrubs and creams, so in Germany, Clearasil used a specially created pimple sticker, and attached it the front page of a hip youth magazine, therefore turning the front of the magazine into a Clearasil ad.

According to Frederik Samuel, the branding and the web address can only be seen on the reverse side of the sticker to create the teaser reveal effect.

Problem 4: Aging

Remove her wrinkles, and reveal a prize!

This in store promotion for Extraderm Age Defy Exfoliant inlcudes a poster in which guests rip off pieces of the poster (aka the aging face). Each piece awards guests with complimentary products, but when all pieces are gone, underneath a new, wrinkle free face is revealed.

Problem 5: Pores

Pond's created this billboard in Manila that actually consisted of a person in the billboard cleaning the inside of the "pore" all day. The copy read: Cleans Pores. Fights Pimples.

Problem 6: Not So Amazing Skin

Vaseline came out with a series of "Your Skin is Amazing" braille ads. The first were placed where people normally put the fingers (such as elevator buttons). Once they noticed they braille messaging, their eyes were drawn to the "Your Skin is Amazing" messaging below.

The Asian Vaseline campaign also used postcards and bus shelter advertising.

Problem 7: More Wrinkles!

In Columbia, these dressing room curtains were used to represent wrinkly skin when dressing rooms were open and smooth skin (because of Ponds, of course) when dressing rooms were occupied.

Problem 8: Rough Skin

In movie theaters, to raise awareness of Nivea Q10, the image of a woman's face was projected onto the curtain. After a few minutes, half of the curtain was opened (showing the results of Nivea Q10 i.e. smooth skin ,on the half without the curtain).

What do you think of these good for your skin ads? Know of any other skin problem areas that advertisers target?

brilliant ads

These are pretty slick ads, very innovative; however I wonder if they get the message across. product line like dermalogica do not use much advertising for the skin care range kit, but are hugely successful. They roll on the merit of what their product range is capable of achieving as results.
