I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream...
Hello Kitty may be Japan's most successful cultural export but not everyone loves the omnipresent epitome of animated cuteness. For those precious few, we present the Hello Kitty pincushion.
Do you do voodoo? Sticking it to the cute cat character might get you a one-way ticket to Hello Kitty Hell – where, incidentally, this pierced plush pussycat has provided paroxysms of joy to the long-suffering site owner.
Me OWWW!!
Eerily resembling an anime version of Clive Barker's scary Pinhead from the Hellraiser series, the Hello Kitty pincushion is the perfect gift for those who are fed up with feline fascism and need to act out. It could also be used in a new series of Sprint ads... well, maybe not.
Now the thought of a Hello Kitty pincushion itself isn't all that gruesome, for example the one below from Etsy (left) that merely uses Hello Kitty themed fabric over a square substrate and on the right, a wristband style Hello Kitty head pincushion from Wists.

Nope, it's the “voodoo doll” configuration that makes this so deliciously, well, evil is the word that comes to mind. Whether you knit or not (knot?), you have to wonder what the creator of the full-body Hello Kitty pincushion was thinking... and did he/she/it smile with glee as the first stainless steel spike poked the precocious puss right between her peepers. Jeepers!
