Sculptor Makes His Own Car Out of Polyurethane

Polyurethane...you know, the same stuff we use to fill in the annoying little cracks along the window. It has now made it's debut in the automotive world as more than just a filler. A Lithuanian "sculptor" has built almost an entire vehicle out of the mirale stuff, and it doesn't look all that bad.

Obviously OSHA and DOT regulations don't apply in Lithuania, so why not right? To build his masterpiece, our sculptor would mix up batches of PU Foam in 2 liter drink bottles. He would then apply them to the framework and hold them in place using cardboard cutouts. After it had dried, the foam could be shaped, sanded, primed and painted to his liking.

Of particular interest is the choice of wheels. 30 inchers in the rear. I can't say I understand why, but it is an entire vehicle made of foam so I guess it doens't matter. The good news is that because of so much self-expanding foam used in building the cabin, air-bags are hardly necessary. The bad news is that if you are a smoker, you shouldn't ever drive this.
