2006 National Young Game Inventors Contest

Univ GamesUniv GamesThe 2006 National Young Game Inventors Contest is here!

This contest gives kids (ages 5-12) the opportunity to design a board game (with all its pieces, rules, and a board) and earn the chance to win prizes (a trip, a $10,000 savings bond, a game library, and more!). In addition, the winning game may be produced by University Games for our lineup in 2007.

[adsense:120x240:1:1]This is the deal on the Inventor Contest. Any kid (ages 5-12) can design a board game and submit it! He/she has to think up the idea for the game that’s fun to play (can be on any subject, but must be a board game, not a card game or other toy). Then, decide what the board and pieces look like, figure out the rules and how to play and design a sample of the board and pieces. Try it out with friends or your family, just to make sure it all works! When you’re done, send the game to us with an entry form by September 1, 2006 (Entries will not be judged on artwork.)

Rules

  • Entrants’ birthdays must be between 9/02/93 and 9/01/01
  • Entries must be in the form of a board game designed by a child age 5-12
  • Entries must be received by September 1, 2006
  • Prizes - $10,000 savings bond, trip to San Francisco (for 2 nights including lodging for winner and his or her family), library of games from UG, and a CHANCE to have the game published. Runners-up will receive a games library from UG.

Mail the entry to: NYGIC c/o University Games, 2030 Harrison Street, San Francisco, CA 94110.

Take a look at their website for more information. The website says that even if they decide to produce the winner's board game, that winner gets nothing other than the Prizes listed (no future royalties). So make sure to take that into consideration when applying. Let us kow if you send it an entry. Good luck.
