Watch Downloaded Movies on a Nintendo DS Lite

The Nintendo DS Lite has always been a successful portable gaming device, but it has never been able to do some of the things that the PSP can do. One of the key differences between the PSP and the Nintendo DS Lite is that the PSP is able to play full-length movies. Soon, the Nintendo DS Lite will be able to do the same.

This new venture is backed by Nintendo and will be taken on by a company in Japan called DSvision . DSvision has found an easy way to turn your Nintendo DS Lite into a portable media device that is capable of playing full-length movies. The planned launch date of this new Nintendo DS technology is the Spring of 2008.

In order to get movies for your Nintendo DS, you must first purchase a kit which includes: USB cord with a microSD card slot, a 512 MB memory card, and an adaptor that fits into the DS cartridge slot. This hardware package is available from DSvision for only about $37, and it will be available in 2008.

Once you have the hardware package, you can begin downloading movies at the DSvision website from your computer, and then transferring those movies to your DS with the hardware. One downfall is that you can't download movies using the DS Lite's Wi-Fi capabilities, although this may be something to look for in the future from Nintendo and DSvision.

Upon launch, there will only be about 300 movie titles available for download, but they hope to increase that number to 10,000 within two years. You will also be able to download TV shows and e-books as well.

Nintendo is hoping to get an even larger chunk of the portable gaming market share . This new technology from DSvision should definitely help Nintendo's cause.
