Take a Puff of This Smoke Art

Irene Müller is an artist that creates beautiful photographs using smoke.

Irene burned joss sticks to generate the smoke. Joss sticks are a type of incense used in many East Asian countries.

To make the image she wanted, Irene put an upturned spoon over the joss sticks in order to get the smoke to "curl" easier. As far as the color goes, the smoke was white and she added the color later on.

I love how she captures these moments in time. These would make awesome framed pictures on my wall. Then I could pretend I was all cultured and worldly.

When I was younger and bored, I used to smoke cigarettes and find interesting ways to blow out the smoke. I could never master the art of puffing out smoke rings, but I did manage to make some pretty cool patterns.

However, I could never get them to look as great as these pictures.

Many thanks to Irene Müller. You can check out more of her beautiful art at her website. You'll be amazed at her other artwork.
