Scotland's New Supercar : Falen

Keating isn't the only new kid on the block when it comes to sports car anymore. Dowdeswell and Hardie design studio based in Gleneagles, Scotland has released some concept drawings of what is supposed to be their first step into the supercar world. Assuming it does make it into production, it will easily be one of the most amazing designs ever created.

Currently, the design hasn't even left to computer yet, but before you write it off as a dream, take into account that the highly respected engine builder, Judd, has already jumped on the team and plans on taking things forward, very quickly. The heart of the machine is planned to be a 5.5-litre V10 that develops over 800bhp and 465ft/lbs of torque. This is the same engine that has made many LPM1 class drivers very happy. Those ponies will be fed through a 5-speed manual transmission, although different transmissions are still being tested.

Dowdeswell and Hardie are hoping to keep the total weight of the vehicle under 1000kgs (2200lbs), which should be easier thanks to the engine weighing only 130kg (290lbs). To accomplish this, they will be using a carbon fiber on the body panels and monocoque which will keep the weight down while still maintaining it's structural strength.

Interestingly enough, the car was actually named after a Scottish demon, which makes perfect sense with 800hp readily available. The prototype is set be to unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show, with 3 more to be produced. That's right, only 4 total. So you better make your reservation now.

Back looks like a Koenigsegg, but the front is all Lambo. Nice bit of kit though, if this is my country's entry into the car industry though, I think we could do worse!
