Have Money to Burn? Pay $114,000 for Lederhosen

Christian Wohlmuther, who owns a clothing business that sells traditional Austrian attire based in Bad Mitterndorf, Austria, sold his first pair of luxury lederhosen — decorated with 166 diamonds — to a German buyer who lives in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, earlier this summer for $114,000.

Wohlmuther said the cost of his lederhosen varies depending on what it is made with. Those interested can choose from an array of stones, including garnets, rubies, emeralds and diamonds, that are then mounted on buttons made either of sterling silver, gold or platinum.

Alright. So your first question may be what are lederhosen. Lederhosen are traditional clothing that some Austrian and German men still wear today at festivals or special occasions (and for hiking). Lederhosen are essentially leather shorts for men.

When I think about lederhosen, I think about the movie "The Sound of Music." It also makes me feel like yodeling and makes me want to drink a beer. Come on! Who wouldn't want to have a little bling on their lederhosen.
