It's love at fur sight!
Eye, matey! In the olden days, "40 lashes!" was a punishment. Now it's a fashion, but don't blink or you'll miss it. Or more likely, hurt yourself.

False eyelashes have never looked more unreal, thanks to the late (2007) Japanese make-up artist Shu Uemura. That doesn't mean they're not useful, however. Imagine the calories you'll burn as you build up your eyelid muscles with every blink. Birthdays will be different too: no need to blow out the candles when a well-timed wink will do the trick! The luxurious lashes would also match well with a set of extra wide, anime-style contacts.


Quick blinking may result in unexpected lift-off
Though Uemura's eye-catching (or eye-cramping) creations look more suited to a Halloween party, one must remember that Japanese fashionistas strive for the extreme in an effort to get noticed - and will pay handsomely for the privilege. Uemura's trademark "lash bars" offer 22 variations on the ultra-lash theme at his signature boutique; the Shu Uemura Lash Bar in Tokyo's ritzy Omotesando shopping district.


Singapore sez, "Take me to the Lash Bar"
A pair of these lengthy lashes costs between $13 and $43 with the top-end eye candy sporting real feathers. What's more, they seem to be selling well - well enough for Shu Uemura to open eyelash bars in other Asian cities such as Singapore.
